Trip Overview

Chitwan National Park, situated 170 km southwest of Kathmandu, is one of the finest forest reserves of South Asia. Established in 1973 as Nepal’s first national park, it was later recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Home to over 50 species of mammals, 40 species of reptiles, and 626 species of birds, the park boasts diverse habitats, including Sal forests, riverine forests, and expansive grasslands. The park is renowned for its incredible wildlife, including the illusive Royal Bengal Tigers, Greater One-horned Rhinoceros, majestic Gaur Bison, colossal Asian wild Elephants, shaggy Sloth Bears, agile Common Leopards, elegant deer, and slumbering Gharial Crocodiles. Visitors can explore the park through elephant-back safaris, jeep excursions, dugout canoe trips, and guided jungle walks. With just a 4-5 hour drive or a 20-minute flight from Kathmandu, this 2-night/3-day package offers ample opportunities to explore the endangered and rare species of flora and fauna of Chitwan National Park.
