Kailash-Manasarovar Pilgrimage (Via Kyirong)
Trip Overview
Aum Namah Śivāya!!!
“As the dew is dried up by the morning sun, so are the sins of human beings by the sight of Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovara”
Skandha Purāṇa
The Kailash–Manasarovar Pilgrimage (Via Kyirong) is a sacred pilgrimage to the sacred Mount Kailash and holy lake Manasarovar traversing physical and metaphysical realms leading to the cosmological axis mundi offering spiritually transformative experience for the travelers. This is a sacred trans-Himalayan overland journey that interweaves the spiritual geographies of Nepal and Tibet, offering a deeply transformative experience for pilgrims of the Vaidik Sanātan tradition. The journey commences in Kathmandu and advances westward to the Kyirong Valley following classical historical route based on Sanātan approach, allowing the pilgrims opportunities for acclimatization and mental preparation before the ascent onto the Tibetan Plateau. The pilgrims explore consecrated landscapes traversing some of the highest mountain passes of Tibet, where the vast, high-altitude landscapes serve as a contemplative prologue to the sacred journey preparing the pilgrims through mind, body and speech for the eternal journey. The journey culminates with entry into the Kailash–Manasarovar Mandala and the sacred circumambulation of the Kailash–Manasarovar–Tirthapuri, revered in the Skanda Purāṇa as a continuous sacrificial path of inner purification and transcendence. At the heart of the Kailash–Manasarovar Mandala rises Mount Kailāsha, described in the Skandha Purāṇa and the Kailāśa Saṁhitā as the abode of Lord Śhiva (Mahādeva) and the axis mundi of the universe. At its base lies Lake Manasarovara, revered for its power to dissolve karmic imprints and bestow spiritual liberation (moksha). This greater Kailash–Manasarovar Mandala is the source of four great river systems: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali. Karnali Excursions organizes this structured pilgrimage facilitating a transformative experience interweaving logistical support and opportunities for spiritual discipline, allowing every pilgrims to walk the divine paths historically trod by sages, saints, ascetics, Sadhus, Yogis and enlightened masters, harmonizing spiritual discipline, cultural immersion, and the awe-inspiring majesty of the Tibetan Plateau into a singular transformative journey.
