Mani Rimdu Festival trek is a specially customized trek for those who would like to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of high mountains of Nepal and become a part of the annual spiritual and cultural event that takes place at Tengboche Monastery. The trek begins with a scenic flight to Lukla and takes the top of Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp allowing ample opportunity to experience authentic Sherpa culture and lifestyles.

Mani Rimdu Festival

Mani Rimdu festival is a prayer ceremony when the monks put on masks representing divine personages and perform ritual dances. Empowerments ceremony and masked monk dances led by the abbot of the monastery are major highlights of the Mani Rimdu festival. Mani Rimdu festival is the greatest spiritual and social event which draws together the largest crowds of people in the Khumbu region. People not from the different villages of Khumbu region, but all across the world gather in the premises of Tengboche Monastery to seek spiritual merits and blessing.

The Mani Rimdu festival falls on the full moon day of Tibetan ninth month (October or November). It is believed that the Mani Rimdu festival was celebrated first time in 1930 at Rongbuk Monastery of Tibet.
