Gosainkund Lake trek offers ample opportunity to explore pristine natural beauty, diverse culture, picturesque landscape and spectacular views of high mountains of Nepal. The journey starts and ends at Dhunche, the district administrative headquarters of Rasuwa district. The trail climbs gradually offering a great chance of seeing endangered red pandas, beautiful birds, yak pasturelands, magnificent mountain views and dense coniferous forests.

The ultimate destination of the trek is holy Gosainkund Lake, the lake of salvation. It is said that the lake was created by Lord Shiva to quench his thirst. Hindu followers believe that taking a ritual dip on this lake cleanses sins of a lifetime. Every year, on the auspicious occasion of Janaipurnima (Full moon of August), few hundred thousand Hindu devotees make a pilgrimage to this holy lake to seek spiritual merit.
